If you watched TV in the early ’90s, you can probably still hear her: Six LeMeure, Blossom’s best friend, rattling off a paragraph of gossip in a single breath. Jenna von Oy made that motor-mouth sidekick one of the most quotable characters of the decade, and then later played Stevie on The Parkers. After that, she more or less slipped out of the spotlight. So whatever happened to Six? The answer involves Nashville, two daughters, a couple of books, an editing career and a podcast. Let’s catch up.

Fun detail: that little umlaut over the “y” in her last name shows up in some credits and not others, which is why you’ll see her spelled both ways online. Same person, same Six.
02The Rise: From Connecticut to Blossom
A Working Kid Before Six
Von Oy grew up in Connecticut and went to high school in Newtown, but she was working long before graduation. As a kid she picked up regional theater, commercials and small screen parts, and she even landed a small role in Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July (1989), the Tom Cruise drama. That’s a pretty serious résumé line for someone who was barely twelve.
The Best Friend Everybody Remembers
Then came Blossom. The NBC sitcom, starring Mayim Bialik as a quirky teenager growing up with her musician dad and two brothers, premiered as a pilot in 1990 and ran until 1995. Von Oy played Six LeMeure, Blossom’s hyperactive, boy-crazy best friend whose signature move was talking so fast the studio audience barely had time to laugh before the next line landed.
It was a supporting role on paper, but Six became a pop-culture fixture. Von Oy won Young Artist Awards for the part in 1993 and 1994, and the Blossom-and-Six friendship became one of the defining TV best-friend pairings of the decade.
Juggling Two Shows at Once
Here’s something you might not know: early on she was pulling double duty. On the Pod Meets World podcast in April 2024, she talked about how she managed to film Blossom and the short-lived sitcom Lenny at the same time as a kid. She also joked that she started drinking coffee at six years old, which honestly explains a lot about Six’s energy.
03Stepping Away From Hollywood
When Blossom wrapped in 1995, von Oy didn’t vanish right away. She briefly enrolled in film school at USC before heading back to acting full-time. She did voice work in animation, including Disney’s Pepper Ann and A Goofy Movie, and in 1999 she landed her second big sitcom role: Stevie Van Lowe, the wisecracking friend on UPN’s The Parkers, which ran through 2004.
After The Parkers, though, the roles got fewer, and von Oy started steering her life in a different direction. She turned to country music, got married, became a mom and eventually left Los Angeles altogether.

The shift wasn’t a dramatic exit. It reads more like someone who’d been working since childhood deciding she wanted a life that wasn’t organized around audition schedules.
04Beyond Six: Music Books and Nashville
The Country Music Chapter
Plenty of ’90s TV stars tried music; von Oy actually went for it in a genre with a tough, tight-knit scene. After recording a demo around 2000, she released her debut country album, Breathing Room, in 2007, followed by an EP in 2009. It didn’t turn her into a radio star, but it pulled her toward Nashville, a city that would eventually become home.
Leaving the L.A. Bubble
Around the time she became a mother in 2012, von Oy moved from Los Angeles to Tennessee. In interviews she has described wanting to get away from the noise and smog of L.A. and live a simpler life. Nashville gave her that, plus a creative community that had nothing to do with whether she’d once been on a hit sitcom.
Laughing Through Motherhood
Motherhood turned into her next creative project. Von Oy has said she couldn’t find the kind of honest, funny pregnancy guide she wanted, so she wrote one. Situation Momedy: A First-Time Mom’s Guide to Laughing Your Way Through Pregnancy & Year One came out in 2015, followed by Situation Momedy: A Very Special Episode in Toddlerdom, a sequel about life with toddlers. Notice the title? “A Very Special Episode” is a wink straight at the ’90s sitcom world she came from. She promoted the second book at Nashville’s Parnassus Books in April 2017.
Speaking Her Truth
Von Oy has also been open about her personal life on her own terms. On Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown in June 2023, she talked with her old co-star about coming of age on TV, the people-pleasing habits she developed as a child actor, hard financial lessons from her early success, and the acceptance she found after beginning a relationship with a woman. It was a candid, warm conversation, and a reminder that Six and Blossom are still friends decades later.
05What She Is Doing Now
A Day Job in Words
These days von Oy’s main gig isn’t acting at all. She has built a career at StyleBlueprint, a Southern lifestyle publication, where she’s been credited as associate editor and lead Nashville writer; her more recent bio there reportedly lists her as editorial operations manager and lead content editor. She writes about Nashville restaurants, local makers, community figures and the city’s cultural life, which suits someone who, by her own description, loves dogs, strong coffee, travel and the local food scene.
I wanted to get away from the L.A. bubble and sort of be away from the smog and the noise. — Jenna von Oy, as quoted by Us Weekly, July 2025
The BFF Podcast
In 2025 she launched a new podcast with friend and author Ashley Robyn, cheekily titled The Big F*cking Feelings Podcast (the pair shorten it to “The BFF Podcast”). The show features the two self-described real-life besties talking about personal growth, relationships and pop culture, along with celebrity and expert interviews. It’s available on the major podcast platforms and on YouTube.
Still Part of the Blossom Family
The Blossom connection is alive and well. In August 2025, Bialik’s Breakdown ran a week of Blossom nostalgia that included a rapid-fire Q&A with von Oy, along with stories from filming in Paris, Sassy magazine photo shoots and late-night shoots on the Seine. She’s also made occasional screen appearances in recent years, including the 2019 film Cecil and a 2022 cameo on Bialik’s Call Me Kat. Back in 2023 she said she’d be excited about a Blossom reboot, though nothing has been announced.
A Rare Convention Appearance
And if you were hoping to meet her in person, 2026 brought a rare opportunity. Parade reported in August 2026 that von Oy, now 49, had stepped out for a convention appearance, a surprise for fans given how seldom she does the public circuit. She still shares glimpses of her life on Instagram, but mostly she’s kept the focus on her daughters, Gray and Marlowe, her writing and her Nashville community.
06Summary
Jenna von Oy was never going to be the kind of former child star who chases one more big break. Instead she took the energy that made Six so memorable and aimed it at music, motherhood, books, journalism and, lately, a podcast about feelings. It’s a quieter life than Hollywood, but by every indication it’s the one she wanted.
